A Must Read

In today's NY Times is a pretty amazing 12 page article called "Broken Ground" which explains in great detail why after 5 years ground zero is still empty. Every single person involved sounds like a total lunatic.

I think it's a must read.

Math Genius Shuns Fields Medal & Eyebrow Up Keep

A Russian mathematician has refused to accept the prestigious Fields Medal for solving the Poincare conjecture.

The Poincare conjecture essentially says that in three dimensions you cannot transform a doughnut shape into a sphere without ripping it, although any shape without a hole can be stretched or shrunk into a sphere.

Duh.

When The Levees Broke

Last night was the first half of the new HBO documentary "When The Levees Broke" directed by Spike Lee. Tonight they play the second half and my initial reaction to watching it is complete and total rage. With everything that has been said and written about how the government so egrigiously dropped the ball, I still think it should be more of an issue with the American people than it is. Our government left people to die for almost a week. It renders me almost speechless.

I think one gripe that some will have with this doc is how blatantly race plays a factor. Obviously it's a black director and the majority of the victims of Katrina were as well. But guess what? That is what it's about. People hate talking about race because they're nervous they might say something that sounds insensitive. Well, Spike took the gloves off I think. He is making you call it like you see it. And its bad. If this hurricane struck a lily white neighborhood or city, the government's response would have been nice and swift. I fully believe that.

"Baby Fish Mouth"

Veteran character actor, Bruno Kirby, has died.

You may remember him as Billy Crystal's friend in both When Harry Met Sally and City Slickers, or perhaps as a young Clemenza in Godfather II, or maybe even Shake's Dad in Sleepers. Most recently he appeared on an episode of Entourage.

He died of complications related to leukemia. He was 57.

I know a girl who was hooking up with [x], and they were doing what they were doing, which ended in [x] releasing bodily fluids on the girls chest. After said event, [x] proceeded to lick it off her and say “Good boys always clean up after themselves.”

Some hints: AL East slugger who's very patient at the plate. One thing we'll say for him...he's the sweetest guy all the time, and yeah, this includes cleaning up after himself!

What Women Want: Anti-Semitic Alcoholics

"They can take our lives, but they can't take...OUR FREEDOM! (...to hate Jews!")

Apparently, if you're dad is a raging anti-Semitic looney bin, chances are, you're probably one too.
